Using a Manual Nikkor Lens on a DSLR

As long as the camera is set to manual-focus mode, you can use the older Nikkor lenses with the newer Nikon cameras. The camera's auto-focus feature should be turned off, since some older lenses are not equipped with the same technology and sensors as DSLR cameras, the photographer should shoot the in the fully manual mode.
1. Attach your Nikkor lens to the camera.
2 . Set the lens f/stop to the lowest value possible.
3 .Switch your lens focus mode to Manual (M).
4 .Check if the camera's light meter is functioning properly. If it’s not, set your camera's shooting mode to manual and then select an appropriate f/stop and the shutter speed. You may want to experiment with different settings to find your best combination.
5 . Grip the focusing ring and twist clockwise as well as counter clock wise to focus the lens.
